Researchers are trying to determine if the HPV vaccine Gardasil, currently prescribed for women only, could protect men from the virus. Because men can carry HPV without showing any symptoms, they can unknowingly transmit HPV to their female partners. Therefore, vaccinating men against HPV could be very important not only for their own health, but for the health of their partners. Some researchers think that vaccinating men against HPV is an important measure in reducing cervical cancer rates.
